About the Camp Cachalot Alumni Association
The Camp Cachalot Alumni Association was founded in 2004 after several years of planning, with the express purpose of providing support for the camping facilities of Narragansett Council, BSA, especially Camp Cachalot. It is a not-for-profit organization operating under the auspices of the Narragansett Council. For more information about the structure and operation of the Association, please consult our bylaws.
Our primary purpose is to benefit the camping facilities of the Narragansett Council; specifically, Camp Cachalot. We provide support in many ways, including:
- bringing the extended Cachalot family together for fun and fellowship, and to share the traditions of Cachalot
- recording and preserving the history of Camp Cachalot and the Councils and Camps that came before it
- providing volunteer manpower for projects at Camp
- providing scholarships to senior summer camp staff members to help maintain continuity in the program
- establishing an endowment to provide support for Cachalot in the years to come
